The Suckermouth Black Pleco is a hardy and popular freshwater catfish known for its exceptional ability to consume algae and keep aquarium surfaces clean.
This species is easy to care for but requires plenty of hiding spots such as driftwood or caves. They are primarily nocturnal and become more active during the night.
While they naturally graze on algae, their diet should be supplemented with high-quality sinking algae wafers and occasional blanched vegetables like zucchini.
Thrives in well-oxygenated tropical freshwater with moderate flow. Regular water changes are necessary to maintain low nitrate levels.
Generally peaceful and compatible with most community fish including Tetras, Livebearers, and Goldfish. They can be territorial with other Plecos in smaller tanks.
